Zhongshan hosted a conference on the high-quality development of the service industry on August 13.

The "Three-Year Action Plan for Elevating the Culinary Industry of Zhongshan (Draft for Review)" was unveiled at the conference, according to which Zhongshan plans to enhance the quality advancement of Zhongshan's culinary industry and apply for the "UNESCO City of Gastronomy" title in three years.

According to the Action Plan, Zhongshan will foster a series of large-scale, distinctive and influential food promotion events and subsidize the best ones. Additionally, Zhongshan will launch a variety of special food tourism routes and create some popular destinations for food hunters.

Efforts will be put in establishing several demonstration culinary hubs across the city. Besides, a batch of "Landmark Restaurants" and "Internet-famous Restaurants" will be selected to form the "Zhongshan Food IP matrix".

Zhongshan will introduce a group of high-quality catering enterprises specializing in Cantonese cuisine, and provide support for local catering enterprises to expand businesses outside the city. Furthermore, the city will step up effort in the training of Cantonese Cuisine Chefs, build multiple production bases for specialty ingredients cultivation, and actively promote the development of the ready-made dish industry.
